ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): President of the Islamabad Tyers Association (ITA), Riaz khan, while presenting his proposals regarding the federal budget, has urged the government to take immediate and practical steps to resolve the issues faced by the tire industry so that the local industry can be promoted and business activities stabilized.
He said that the budget should include measures to encourage local manufacturing, increase investment, and create new employment opportunities. He further stated that complex regulations imposed on tire imports, high duties, and prolonged delays of consignments at ports are causing severe financial losses to traders.
He demanded that in the upcoming budget, industry-friendly policies be adopted, import duties and taxes on tires be reduced, and the clearance process be made faster and more transparent.
He also emphasized that effective measures should be taken to curb smuggled and substandard tires so that traders conducting business through legal channels can be protected.
