AIOU Gets New Dean for Social Sciences and Humanities

ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ):  The President Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has appointed renowned educationist Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Aamir Shah as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU). The Federal Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has issued a formal notification in this regard and communicated the directives to the university administration.
Under the Allama Iqbal Open University Act, the President of Pakistan serves as the Chancellor of the university. The appointment is being viewed as an important development in academic circles and a positive step toward strengthening the university’s academic leadership.
Following the announcement, faculty members of AIOU particularly the Academic Staff Association welcomed the appointment and extended their congratulations to the newly appointed Dean. They also appreciated the leadership and merit-based policies of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood terming them instrumental in promoting transparency and academic excellence within the institution.
After assuming charge of his new responsibilities Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Aamir Shah expressed his commitment to working closely with the university administration and faculty members. He stated that he would strive to contribute effectively toward the academic and research development of the university and help further enhance its educational standards.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood congratulated the newly appointed Dean and expressed confidence that under his leadership, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities would achieve greater academic success. He further added that the university’s scholarly reputation would continue to grow with strengthened academic collaboration and leadership.
The appointment has been widely welcomed across academic circles, with hopes that it will further advance AIOU’s mission of providing quality higher education across the country.
