ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ):Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam paid tribute to Imam Khomeini’s revolutionary vision and his efforts to foster unity among Muslims worldwide, saying that his teachings continue to inspire people across the globe.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the Embassy of Iran in Islamabad to mark the 37th anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s passing, the ambassador said the late Iranian leader’s ideas remain a source of guidance for millions and continue to influence political and social thought in the region and beyond.
He said Iran does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, adding that uranium enrichment should not be viewed solely in the context of weapons development. He noted that the technology has peaceful applications in medicine, scientific research, agriculture, and industry.
Ambassador Amiri Moghadam highlighted Imam Khomeini’s role in promoting unity among Muslim nations and praised his commitment to defending oppressed communities and opposing injustice, describing him as a symbol of resistance and independence.
He said the progress, dignity, and resilience of the Islamic Republic are rooted in the farsighted leadership of Imam Khomeini, adding that the sacrifices of revolutionary martyrs have strengthened Iran’s resolve in the face of external pressure.
During the event, the ambassador also paid homage to the martyrs of the Sacred Defense and other revolutionary figures, reflecting on various aspects of Imam Khomeini’s personality and the impact of the Iranian Revolution on regional and global affairs, particularly in promoting Islamic values and opposing oppression.
He said Iran has consistently advocated dialogue and diplomacy while retaining its right to self-defense, and appreciated the efforts of friendly countries, including Pakistan, in supporting peace initiatives and facilitating dialogue during regional tensions.
Ambassador Amiri Moghadam thanked Pakistan’s political and military leadership for their support of peace and constructive engagement, and praised the Pakistani people for standing in solidarity with Iran during difficult times. He described relations between the two countries as strong and historic.
Concluding his remarks, he paid tribute once again to Imam Khomeini and the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution, saying their sacrifices continue to inspire future generations to pursue dignity, independence, and resistance against injustice.
