ISLAMABAD ( WNAM MONITORING):  Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) under its social welfare mission is providing free Matric education to students from the Tribal Districts, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). The initiative aims to ensure equal access to quality education for children living in remote, underserved and underprivileged areas, enabling them to become active contributors to the country’s development.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that no child should be deprived of education because of financial hardship or geographical barriers. He emphasized that this vision is at the heart of AIOU’s educational and social mission, under which quality learning opportunities are being extended to students in the country’s far-flung regions.
He said the University has been implementing special initiatives for several years to support students from areas where educational opportunities are limited. Providing free Matric education to students from the Tribal Districts, Balochistan and GB is a key part of these efforts, helping thousands of students continue their education without financial burden.
Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood further said that this initiative represents one of AIOU’s most significant contributions to the nation by promoting educational equity and social inclusion. He noted that investing in the education of children from remote and underserved areas is an investment in Pakistan’s future. The University remains committed to ensuring that no deserving child is denied the opportunity to pursue education because of financial or geographical challenges.
Admissions for the Autumn 2026 Semester are currently open for a wide range of academic programmes, from Matric to PhD. The Vice Chancellor expressed the hope that students from the Tribal Districts, Balochistan and GB would take full advantage of this special opportunity and continue their educational journey through AIOU.
Reaffirming the University’s commitment to promoting education, social equity and national development, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said AIOU will continue to expand its educational outreach so that every child, regardless of location or financial background has access to quality education and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s progress.
