DUSHANBE ( WNAM REPORT ): Tajikistan has commenced a landmark multi-billion-dollar urban development project in Dushanbe, centered around a 340-metre, 77-floor skyscraper set to become the tallest building in Central Asia.President Emomali Rahmon and Senate Speaker and Mayor of Dushanbe Rustami Emomali laid the foundation stone of the new multifunctional complex in Shohmansur district. The 29-hectare development, named “Dushanbe Tower,” will surpass Astana’s 311-metre Abu Dhabi Plaza and is designed to redefine Dushanbe’s skyline and position the city as a regional hub for tourism and business.
The project will include 5 high-rise towers, 52 facilities, 42 residential buildings with 6,160 apartments, hotels, offices, restaurants, shopping outlets, a 1,000-seat concert hall, cinema, sports amenities, and a landscaped park with a lake. A school for 1,200 students and a kindergarten for 500 children are also planned. Construction is expected to take five years and create over 2,000 jobs in construction, engineering, hospitality and related sectors.The launch coincides with Tajikistan’s $29 million tourism development plan aimed at promoting mountain, nature-based and cultural tourism.Welcoming the initiative, Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of FPCCI, said Pakistan’s business community is keen to deepen economic and commercial ties with Tajikistan.
“We are working on a future strategy to bring the business communities of both countries closer and strengthen economic and trade cooperation,” he said, while congratulating Tajikistan’s leadership and Ambassador H.E. Yousuf Toir Sharifzada.
