WNAM MONITORING: Today, Turkmenistan, as well as throughout the world, celebrates International Environment Day. On this occasion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated environmental workers and Turkmen citizens.
“Dear environmental workers!
Dear compatriots!
I cordially congratulate you on World Environment Day, which is widely celebrated in our country!
The Turkmen people have always treated the environment with care, protecting it like the apple of their eye. This humanitarian activity is successfully carried out within the framework of the adopted programs for greening the dear Fatherland and turning it into a blooming oasis in the year “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi.” The fundamental reforms being implemented in our independent country, aimed at ensuring a clean environment for human life, contribute to the preservation of our beautiful nature, further enrichment of the flora and fauna, as well as their scientific research.
Dear compatriots!
Today, the national traditions of environmental protection inherited from our ancestors are becoming even more relevant. Carrying out annual nationwide greening campaigns in the country plays a big role in transforming Turkmenistan into a blooming oasis and increases the people’s pride in our unique nature. As a result of this activity, aimed at great goals, forest areas are increasingly expanding in the vicinity of the capital – Ashgabat and in the velayats.
In the Avaza National Tourist Zone, located on the clean coast of the Caspian Sea, our compatriots and foreign guests are provided with all opportunities for relaxation and acquaintance with the local unique nature. The Turkmen Lake “Altyn Asyr”, created in the center of the Karakum Desert, helps to enrich the flora and fauna of the desert and improve the ecological condition of the entire region.
Inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List within the framework of the multilateral dossier of the nomination “Turan Temperate Deserts”, prepared through international cooperation, of the state nature reserves “Bereketli Garagum”, “Gaplaňgyr”, the State Biosphere Reserve “Repetek” and the desert ecosystems of its reserve “Ýerajy” contributes to the global conservation of endemic flora and fauna of the region.
In our sovereign Fatherland, effective measures are being taken to strengthen and improve the legislative framework in the field of environmental protection. Along with this work, the systematic holding of international conferences on ecology and environmental protection in the country is clear evidence of the successful implementation of state policy in the field of ecology.
Dear compatriots!
Ensuring sustainable development and environmental safety on Earth is closely related to international cooperation. Having joined dozens of United Nations environmental conventions, our country takes a responsible approach to solving the challenges of sustainable development facing the world community.
In this direction, we have ongoing fruitful cooperation with many international and regional organizations, including the Development Program and the UN Environment Program, the Agriculture and Food Organization, the Global Environment Facility, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, the Regional Center for Ecology of Central Asia, the German Society international cooperation. We also come up with new initiatives and proposals to ensure environmental well-being.
At the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-28) held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Turkmenistan’s accession to the Global Methane Commitment was officially announced. Adherence to this commitment and effective international and national efforts contribute to sustainable development in the fight against climate change and its consequences.
At sessions of the United Nations General Assembly and high-level conferences on sustainable development, Turkmenistan systematically puts forward initiatives for environmental protection, rational use of water and energy resources, ensuring food security, and reducing risks from natural disasters. We will continue to implement measures to enhance the flourishing of our unique nature.
Dear environmental workers!
Dear compatriots!
Once again, I sincerely congratulate you on World Environment Day! I wish you good health, family well-being and great success in your work to preserve and enrich the natural resources of our beautiful Fatherland!”
