WNAM MONITORING: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to Balkan province, where he participated in the groundbreaking ceremonies of a urea production complex with a capacity of 1.155 million tons per year in Turkmenbashi district, as well as a section of the Turkmenbashi–Garabogaz highway connecting Turkmenbashi to the Kazakhstan border. The head of state also attended the opening of a water treatment facility with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters per day in Esenguly district and a bridge over Garabogazgol Bay.
The president arrived at the site for the groundbreaking of the urea production complex in Turkmenbashi district.
Тhe new urea complex, whose foundation was laid today, is one of the country’s major investment projects. Turkmenistan currently operates the Tejenkarbamid, Marykarbamid, and Garabogazkarbamid plants. The new complex will meet international environmental standards, with construction carried out by a consortium of Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan) and Gap Inşaat (Turkey). Advanced technologies from leading companies in Europe and Asia will be applied at the site, the president noted.
The complex is designed for a daily output of 2,000 tons of ammonia and 660,000 tons per year, which will serve as raw material for urea production.
Overall, the plant will produce 3,500 tons per day, or 1.155 million tons of urea fertilizers per year. Its products will also be exported abroad.
The facility will create more than 1,000 new jobs, with most specialized personnel trained at leading universities around the world. Full support and facilities will be provided for them.
The construction of the urea production complex was entrusted to the Turkish company Gap Inşaat Yatirim ve Diş Ticaret A.Ş. and the Japanese company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.
Ammonia production technology will be provided by the Danish company Topsoe, urea synthesis by the Italian company Saipem, urea production by the German company Thyssenkrupp, and CO2 utilization technology by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.
