WNAM MONITORING: The Russian Federation has proposed initiating flights from St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk to Turkmenistan, Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin announced, the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan reported on Monday.
Volynkin emphasized the need to enhance dialogue on increasing passenger transport volumes between Turkmenistan and Russia via air and sea.
“The Russian side has proposed opening air routes to St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Astrakhan, and Novosibirsk, as well as launching a sea cruise on the Caspian Sea. I am confident that this will create conditions for the development of cultural-historical, medical, and spa tourism,” he said.
Currently, two airlines operate flights from Turkmenistan to Russia—Turkmenistan Airlines and S7 Airlines, with routes to Moscow.
