The Army Chief deserves encomium for ordering Court Martial proceedings against a senior Army General on various charges. It has been once again proved,if any proof was needed, that there already exist a foolproof strong accountability system inside the Armed Forces
This step gives the lie to all types of nefarious propaganda being made in the social media by the interested political element to weaken the armed forces by trying to lower their esteem in the eyes of the public. The common man hopes that the court martial in question would be taken to its logical conclusion and an example would be made of the persons who were found guilty of any offence and the court martial proceedings would be held in a transparent manner.
There is no gainsaying the fact that our armed forces have been the best in the Muslim world when it came to professionalism. Unlike of many armed forces in the Islamic world they have always been devoid of provincialism communalism or sectarianism. They have always believed in Pakistanism, hook, line and sinker and this unity of command grated on the enemies of this country who wanted to lower their esteem in the public eye by mudslinging on them and blowing falsehood against them out of proportion.
The aforementioned disciplinary step should put to rest all the malacious propaganda against the Army as it has proved that if found guilty nobody amongst the armed forces can escape due punishments under their code of ethics.
