WNAM REPORT: The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) expressed its highest appreciation for the government under President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin for continuing to advance Indonesia to prove itself as a big country.

MPR Speaker Bambang Soesatyo, also known as Bamsoet, stated that Indonesia has set a big dream and will become a high-income nation on par with developed countries in 2045.

“It requires our joint commitment, which has been started by President Joko Widodo with establishing two priority strategies towards Golden Indonesia 2045,” Bamsoet noted in his speech during the 2024 MPR Annual Session at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta, Friday.

According to Bamsoet, the priorities are industrial downstreaming and human resource development (SDM).

The various developments have created bridges connecting islands, villages, and communities with new hopes and opportunities.

Hence, Bamsoet emphasized that the next government under President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka should continue to fight to realize the vision.

“We must continue to maintain and preserve this momentum together,” he emphasized.

This year’s MPR annual session is held under the theme of “Nusantara Baru, Indonesia Maju” or “New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia” that reflects the country’s vision for progress, including the capital move to Nusantara and the goal of advancing the nation.

The session includes the MPR Annual Session, a Joint Session of the DPR and DPD, and the Opening of the Plenary Session of the First Session of the House for the 2024-2025 sitting period.

During the MPR session, President Jokowi will deliver a report on the performance of state institutions and a state speech to mark the 79th commemoration of Indonesia’s Independence Day.

Moreover, during the Plenary Session, he will present the government’s note on the Draft State Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 along with its Financial Note.
