The idiot box has been telecasting daily with rare abandon the frequent sessions of our politicians being held in one another’s posh bungalows turn by turn in the federal capital. During the past few days almost daily finalising decisions on the judicial reforms. Their life standard doesn’t reveal that they are political leaders of a country which is being run on foreign loans. How come leaders of a country with doddering economy afford driving in style in costly cars worth crore of rupees, living in well furnished bungalows worth billion of rupees and serving ambrosial food to one another almost daily?
Granted that those among them who are in the corridors of power get a fat purse per month from the national kitty whether they are members of ruling government or parliamentarians of opposition parties and some of them are entitled to free transport and food also at state expense but what about those of them who, the insiders know , were, not filthy rich till recently which they have become today?
From where did they get money ? Who have bankrolled them? The nation deserves to know the answers to these questions.
If they are spending money lavishly out of their party funds, is the Election Commission in the know of credentials and the names of donors of the funds and the amount of funds deposited by them in their party funds?
