WNAM MONITORING: In 2025, Ashgabat will host a series of international events aimed at further developing political and economic cooperation with the European Union. These events will include the next meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue, the 20th meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asian countries and the European Union, and the visit of European Commissioner for International Cooperation Jutta Urpilainen to Turkmenistan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov presented proposals for organizing these events at a Cabinet meeting on Friday, as reported by official media of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, officials also introduced a project regarding a summit involving the heads of state of Central Asia and senior EU representatives, planned for April 2025 in Samarkand.
Additionally, participants discussed the prospects for deepening scientific and educational cooperation within the frameworks of the European Commission’s Horizon Europe and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programs. The Ministry of Education and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan received suggestions to actively utilize these opportunities to expand partnerships.
The head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan continues to develop active cooperation with world powers and international organizations while adhering to a policy of neutrality and supporting an “open doors” policy.
The government also addressed several other state matters, making corresponding decisions.
