WNAM REPORT: During a telephone conversation, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani discussed issues related to the supply of Turkmen gas to Iraq through Iran.
As noted, Turkmenistan strictly follows the policy of exporting its energy resources to world markets through diversification. In this regard, it was noted that two years ago, Turkmenistan and Iraq began working together in the gas sector, through an agreement reached on the annual supply of 10 billion cubic meters of Turkmen natural gas to the Republic of Iraq under the SWAP scheme, through the territory of neighboring Iran.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani confirmed his country’s readiness to further intensify cooperation in the energy sector and reported that the necessary work is already underway.
