WNAM MONITORING; Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on Saturday called for a resolution to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the Middle East based on international law.
“During this holy month of Ramadan for the entire Islamic world, we hope for the resolution of the disturbing humanitarian situation in Gaza and the Middle East, guided by the principles of international law,” Bayramov said on X.
His remarks came after attending an extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
He reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to continuing its humanitarian support for the Palestinian people affected by the ongoing crisis.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Bayramov held talks with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, stressing the deepening strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
“Intensive mutual contacts are contributing to the development of our strategic partnership based on friendship and brotherhood,” he said, adding that regional affairs were also discussed.
Bayramov also met with Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti, where both sides emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties and intensify mutual engagements.
The OIC session in Jeddah was convened amid growing concerns over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, with member states discussing coordinated responses and relief efforts.
A ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement has been in place in Gaza since Jan. 19, halting Israel’s brutal war, which has killed over 48,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and left the enclave in ruins.
