There is no gainsaying the fact that this country faces shortage of electricity. There is a need to be parsimonious instead of extravagant in its use. As a nation we seem to be very much extravagant in its use. One has only to visit big cities of the country after sunset to see ruthless excessive use of electricity in shopping malls, plazas and shops right up to wee hours of the morning.
In Europe all the business enterprises start their daily chores with the first light of the day in the morning and then shut them down as soon as the sun sets and through this parsimonious behavior they have been saving a lot of their electricity; on the contrary our markets start their daily chores not before noon and then carry them on till odd hours of the morning. The civil administration has so many times tried to persuade the business community in every big city to start their day early morning , carry on with their business in sun light but close it down as soon as the sun sets but they turned a deaf ear to this advice and said nothing doing.
