As long as the BJP calls the shots in India, the future of Indian Muslims is not safe. The lunatic fringe in the BJP has instilled so much hatred in the hearts of its zealots that they didn’t forgive even a Hindu leader like Gandhi who was assassinated by them only because he in their own wisdom thought he was nursing a soft corner in his heart for Indian Muslims unlike other Hindu political leaders. Had BJP’s’ high command remained in the hands of doves like Bajpai instead of falling into the hands of hawks like Modi and his alter ego Amit Shah things would not have come to such an head and the Indian Muslims would have been in the safe hands today.
The BJP is lucky in the sense that in the near future there isn’t any other political party in India which can dismantle it from power in the elections. Congress party, perhaps is the only party which could have defeated it at the hustings but its new leadership hasn’t fired the imagination of the Indian electorate as yet which thinks it isn’t a patch on Nehru or her daughter Indra Gandhi.
The war mongers on both sides of Pak Indian border should have a deep look at the fate of people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan on whom atom bombs were dropped in the second world war. Nobody wins in atomic warfare. The public leaders of both India and Pakistan had better not throw caution to the wind and instead of Sabre rattling should talk of bilateral negotiations between themselves over their disputes.

Better late than never, it was quite sensible on the part of the government to let the council of common interests decide the issue of construction of new canals which had, lately kicked off a lot of dust in Sindh.
