ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, held a key meeting with World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director Coco Ushiyama to discuss collaborative efforts aimed at improving nutrition and education initiatives for BISP beneficiaries. Deputy Country Director WFP, Rathi Pala Krishnan, and Director General BISP, Dr. Asim Ijaz, also attended the meeting.
Discussions focused on the School Meal Programme, development of the Nashonuma Dashboard, data sharing, and the repurposing of Nashonuma centers into counseling hubs for maternal and child health.
Chairperson BISP stressed the importance of ensuring quality Specialized Nutritious Food (SNF) under the Nashonuma programme, highlighting its role in reducing stunting among children and improving maternal health. She also discussed starting health initiatives under Nashonuma in the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
WFP Country Director assured full cooperation, and both sides agreed to engage additional stakeholders to enhance future strategies and collaborations.
