ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): Nasir Mansoor Quraishi, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), announced that the chamber will soon establish a cutting-edge ‘Exhibition Centre’ in Islamabad. This development is poised to be a significant milestone for the business community in the federal capital, serving not only local traders but also acting as a central hub for regional and international trade and industry. The proposed modern exhibition Centre is deemed a necessity for the federal capital and will be completed as expeditiously as possible. This facility will provide industrialists with a platform to showcase their products, fostering business growth and trade facilitation.
In an interview President ICCI also revealed plans to host an international-level exhibition in Islamabad in September this year, adding that he and his team are diligently working to finalize the program details.
In line with modernization efforts, President Qureshi highlighted several initiatives undertaken by his team to bring the Chamber into the era of e-commerce and automation. “Institutional productivity is of utmost importance in the modern world,” he stressed, adding that enhancing ICCI’s capacity on modern lines is a key objective.
Addressing the country’s economic situation, President ICCI emphasized the need for policies that consider ‘Ease of Doing Business and Cost of Doing Business’ to ensure a sustainable economy. He advocated for the government to engage with business community to expand the tax net and implement tax policies and reforms through the Federal Board of Revenue.
He underscored the significant role of the private sector in sustainable economic development, stressing that the government must provide opportunities to the private sector. “The business community is a key stakeholder in the country’s economy, and industries create employment, growing the national economy, therefore, they should be facilitated instead of intimidated.”
