Jakarta: The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is targeting to draw as many as 100 thousand people to its Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) training program in 2024 to boost the number of digital talents in Indonesia.
“For 2024, we are targeting 100 thousand participants, same as 2023,” head of the Human Resources Development Agency of the ministry, Hary Budiarto, informed here on Thursday.
He affirmed that his side is proposing that the number of participants of the DTS be increased to 200 thousand in 2025.
Budiarto noted that, based on McKinsey’s calculation, the ideal number of participants in the digital talent training programs is 600 thousand per year.
Therefore, the ministry is targeting to train 200 thousand DTS participants in 2025, while the remaining 400 thousand digital talents will be trained by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).
He explained that Kemendikbudristek has around 4 thousand universities under it. If, every year, 100 students graduate from each university with an Informatics Engineering degree, the target of creating 400 thousand digital talents can be reached.
“That is why we take 200 thousand. Thus, per year, it (the number) is supposed to be 600 thousand. That is the way to become a Golden Indonesia by 2045,” he said.
