TEHRAN ( WNAM MONITORING): A member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has emphasized that the trio Islands – Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa – are the integral part of Iran’s territorial integrity.
Referring to the recent stance of the European Union and Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) against Iran, Member of Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi emphasized that the recent stance of PGCC-EU has been in line with exerting US maximum pressure against the country.
The trio islands including Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa are an inseparable and integral part of the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and any interference or comment by any country or group in this regard is strongly condemned, he underlined.
Reacting to the recent positions of some European countries against Iran, he pointed out that Europeans do not have political independence and they follow the policies of the United States in many decisions.
The proposal to return the six resolutions of the United Nations, invoke the snapback mechanism, and hold a joint summit with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries can all be analyzed within the framework of the US political pressure against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Boroujerdi emphasized.
Iran will not allow the West to influence the country’s logical and strategic policies to strengthen relations with its neighbors, he said, adding that illegal positions regarding a part of Iran’s territory will be received with a decisive response from the Islamic Republic of Iran
Earlier, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei dismissed the interventionist and unfounded claims raised in the joint statement of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) and the European Union, including the repetition of the United Arab Emirates’ baseless claim regarding the Iranian islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa, as well as interference in Iran’s defensive and nuclear issues.
