The Russian offer to mediate between Pakistan and Afghanistan in their present dispute has rekindled memory of Tashkent Declaration which was masterminded by Moscow in the not- too-distant past which provided base of truce between Pakistan and India after their 1965 war. If Kremlin puts its foot down in the matter for the good of peace in this region it will add to its stature in the world’s politics.

The Economist journal is a respectable weekly journal which enjoys a good reputation in so far its investigative reports are concerned. Its recent report about Bushra Bibi’ s activities while she lived in the PM House need to be thoroughly investigated by our concerned intelligence authorities and if they were found to be factually incorrect then the government should knock the door of the concerned court of law against the said magazine in a damages suit against it under the law of defamation. Both Imran Khan and his spouse too should invoke the necessary law against the said journal if they have concrete material to rebut its story against them because their reputation is at stakes after publication of the said story.
