Sieve of Accountability

Persons desirous of joining armed forces and other state institutions are recruited only after the CID gives them a clean bill of health in so far their character is concerned. Why shouldn’t those who contest polls for getting into the assembles be treated differently. This argument is fallacious that since people vote for them in election they don’t need clearance from the CID.
In this connection Iran has evolved a very comprehensive accountability system in which credentials of every person wanting to become legislator are subjected to a thorough probe and only those who are persons of impeccable financial integrity are green signal to stand for election. Unless the best of the best persons are elected as legislators a country  cannot prosper.
Unfortunately most of the persons who became legislators in the past in this country were not up to the mark.
It is rightly said that politics is the most profitable business in this country. Our political system is pockmarked with dynastic politics which is akin to monarchy. Just like a king who nominates his crown prince during his life, heads of almost all political parties of this country barring of course an odd party maneuver their next of kin appointed on key position inside the party’s hierarchy so that when their time is up he automatically becomes head of the party which paves the way for his election as prime minister or president of the country in case his party wins election.
