ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): The Embassy of Malaysia in Islamabad upheld its cherished annual tradition by hosting a graceful Iftar reception during the holy month of Ramazan on Wednesday, bringing together members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders and distinguished personalities from diverse sectors.
The Iftar dinner, hosted at the Embassy premises by Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, His Excellency Azhar bin Mazlan, reflected the spirit of unity, brotherhood and interfaith harmony that defines the sacred month. The event was attended by the Ambassadors of Thailand, Brunei, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam, along with former Ambassador Khalid Mahmood and Chairman Pakistan ASEAN Friendship Association, Zafar Bakhtawari, among other prominent guests.
Addressing the gathering, High Commissioner Azhar bin Mazlan termed the presence of esteemed guests a great honor for the Embassy. He emphasized that Ramazan strengthens the bonds of Muslim brotherhood and teaches patience, compassion and consideration for others. Mutual harmony and unity, he noted, are among the core principles of the blessed month.
He observed that fasting instills discipline and serves as spiritual training that should guide individuals throughout the year. Referring to the guiding principle of Pakistan’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, “Faith, Unity and Discipline,” the High Commissioner described it as a timeless foundation for the progress and prosperity of any nation.
The Malaysian envoy highlighted that Malaysia and Pakistan, as two brotherly Islamic nations, have enjoyed exemplary relations across multiple sectors since their independence. He underlined that economic and trade cooperation between the two countries continues to advance steadily, supported by strong people-to-people ties rooted in shared faith and centuries-old historical connections.
He further stressed that it is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to deepen bilateral engagement, explore new avenues of collaboration and enhance connectivity between the peoples of both nations. As a key member of the ASEAN region, he added, Malaysia can play a pivotal role in strengthening Pakistan’s economic integration with ASEAN.
The evening concluded on a warm and festive note as guests were served a delightful blend of traditional Malaysian and Pakistani cuisines, symbolizing the rich cultural harmony and enduring friendship between the two nations.
