Rubina Khalid in GB: Raises Awareness on BISP Digital Wallets, SIM Distribution & Skills Program

ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, visited the BISP District Office in Shigar today. During the visit, she met women beneficiaries, listened to their concerns, and directed the relevant staff to ensure that complaints and issues are addressed promptly on a priority basis.

The Chairperson also briefed beneficiaries on the Digital Wallet system and reviewed the ongoing distribution of free mobile SIMs. She informed the women that future payments under the Benazir Kafaalat Programme will be made through Digital Wallets, a step aimed at enhancing transparency, convenience, and financial inclusion.

Senator Rubina Khalid advised beneficiaries to keep their mobile SIMs safe and secure. She said that free SIMs are being provided to eligible women so they can open their digital accounts and receive future payments directly through the Digital Wallet system. She urged all beneficiaries to collect their free SIMs before June 15 to avoid any disruption in receiving their payments.

Later, the Chairperson visited the BISP Tehsil Office in Daghoni, District Ghanche. Speaking to women beneficiaries, she highlighted the objectives of the Benazir Hunarmand Programme, under which women and their family members will be provided market-oriented skills training to improve their employability and economic prospects. She further shared that educated women will also receive training in digital and financial literacy to help them benefit from modern financial services and opportunities.

Senator Rubina Khalid also stated that a policy is being developed to facilitate the inclusion of unmarried women in the programme, enabling a greater number of deserving women to benefit from social protection and empowerment initiatives. Director General BISP Gilgit-Baltistan, Muhammad Alam, accompanied the Chairperson during the visits.
