ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Chairman of the Pakistan Alternative Energy Association, Asif Javed, has urged the federal government to include solar panels in the Third Schedule of the Sales Tax Act to eliminate the difficulties faced by the renewable energy sector and further promote the process of solarization across the country.
He said that Pakistan is increasingly turning towards alternative energy sources to tackle the energy crisis, high electricity costs, and environmental challenges. In such circumstances, encouraging the solar sector has become the need of the hour.
He stated that including solar panels in the Third Schedule would bring greater transparency to the tax system, discourage undocumented business activities, and help improve government revenue collection.
Asif Javed also called on the government to provide special incentives for the solar sector in the federal budget, including relief in import duties and other taxes, to facilitate the widespread adoption of clean and affordable energy throughout the country. He added that such measures would support the growth of renewable energy and help realize the vision of sustainable and cost-effective power for all.
