Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan eye stronger cooperation on Middle Corridor

WNAM MONITORING: A meeting was held between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.

The meeting discussed the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, which are based on friendship, brotherhood and mutual respect, as well as prospects for their development. The sides emphasized that high-level reciprocal visits and political dialogue make an important contribution to expanding bilateral cooperation.

The ministers exchanged views on opportunities to develop cooperation in trade, economy, energy, transport, transit, logistics, shipping, humanitarian and cultural fields. In this context, they noted the importance of strengthening regional connectivity and making more effective use of the potential of the Middle Corridor.

The meeting also reviewed cooperation within international and regional organizations. The sides stressed the importance of continuing mutual support and cooperation at the UN and other multilateral platforms.

The foreign ministers also exchanged views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest. The sides expressed their intention to continue joint efforts to further develop Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations in the spirit of mutual benefit and strategic partnership.
