ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, visited BISP offices in Haripur and Abbottabad today, where she met with women beneficiaries of the Programme, listened to their concerns, and directed the relevant officials to ensure that their issues are resolved on a priority basis. Member of the Provincial Assembly, Ms. Meher Sultana Advocate, along with other women leaders, accompanied the Chairperson during the visit.
During the visit, Senator Rubina Khalid provided detailed awareness to women beneficiaries regarding the Government’s newly introduced Digital Wallet System, the free Benazir SIM, wallet activation and the new payment mechanism.
Addressing the beneficiaries, she stated that under the new Digital Wallet System, financial assistance will be transferred directly into the beneficiaries’ digital accounts. Beneficiaries will receive an SMS notification once the funds are credited. The amount will remain securely stored in their digital wallets and can be withdrawn at any time from the nearest authorized retailer. An SMS confirmation will also be sent after every withdrawal, providing complete details of the amount withdrawn to ensure transparency in the payment process.
The BISP Chairperson advised beneficiaries to obtain the free Benazir SIM only from BISP offices. She emphasized that beneficiaries must bring their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and personal mobile phone when collecting the SIM. She further urged women not to hand over their mobile phones to any agent or retailer while receiving payments, in order to safeguard their personal information and financial security.
Senator Rubina Khalid further informed the beneficiaries that with the implementation of the new interoperability system, they will be able to withdraw their financial assistance conveniently and securely from any authorized retailer of a partner bank, at any time and from any city across Pakistan.
During her visit to Abbottabad, the BISP Chairperson advised women beneficiaries to keep their SIM cards secure, refuse any unauthorized deductions while receiving their payments and immediately report any such incidents to the relevant BISP office or through the Programme’s complaint management system so that prompt action can be taken against those responsible.
At the conclusion of the visit, Senator Rubina Khalid instructed BISP officials and staff to provide women beneficiaries with the best possible facilities, guidance and support to ensure that they face no difficulties in accessing their financial assistance.
