Chinese embassies and consulates in foreign countries have held National Day receptions recently to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Heads of international organizations, foreign leaders and people from all walks of life attended the event or delivered speeches in various ways to extend congratulations, lauding China’s economic and social development achievements and vowing to deepen cooperation with China in various fields to make positive contributions to world peace and development.

China has made tremendous development achievements and benefited more developing countries with its fruitful results, Director-General of the World Trade Organization Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said.

Martin Chungong, secretary general of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), said China’s outstanding achievements and progress have set an example for developing countries in terms of poverty reduction, which is also a major contribution to human progress.

Since its founding 74 years ago, China has made remarkable achievements in its modernization drive, making positive contributions to promoting global innovation, development and prosperity, Israeli President Isaac Herzog said, adding that Israel attaches great importance to the solid diplomatic relations it has established with China and looks forward to the continued development of bilateral relations.

Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides said Cyprus, as a member state of the European Union (EU), firmly supports advancing EU-China relations.

“The EU and China are important partners,” he said, adding that developing constructive, stable and mutually beneficial relations is beneficial to both sides.

Hailing China’s long-term assistance for Serbia’s construction in various areas, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic vowed to continue the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with China to push for new heights of China-Serbia relations.

“The courage of the Chinese people to fight bravely for the development of their country is worthy of praise,” Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said during a reception held at the Chinese embassy in Kenya.

China is willing to work with Kenya to take the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as a new starting point to promote high-quality joint construction of the BRI and implement a series of important initiatives, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Zhou Pingjian said during the reception.

Chipoka Mulenga, Zambian minister of commerce, trade and industry, congratulated China on its 74th anniversary, hailing the relationship between the two countries based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and common development aspirations.

China has continued to support Zambia in many areas of development, he said. “Today we boast many achievements and successes that have emerged which should elevate our relation to even greater heights.”
