ISTANBUL( WNAM Monitoring): Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke over the phone amid recent tensions between Israel and Palestine, Turkish diplomatic sources said Sunday. Fidan and Blinken discussed the latest developments in the region. This was the second phone call between the two since tensions escalated between Israel and Palestine on Saturday.
Palestinian group Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, saying the unprecedented attack was in response to the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and increased settler violence. It said it fired rockets and captured many Israelis. In retaliation, the Israeli army initiated Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas, launching air strikes on the Gaza strip.
