WNAM MONITORING: This May, the International Folklore Festival “Baysun Spring” will be held on the ancient and unique land of Surkhandarya.
Preparations for the festival, which will unite performers and masters of folklore and ethnographic art worldwide, are carried out in a completely new spirit.
In the modern tourist complex in Bibishirin mahalla, where its main events will take place, all conditions are created for performances by folklore and ethnographic groups, national sports games, and other performances.
“Our country has been famous since ancient times for its unique national art, values, and traditions”, says Deputy Hokim of Surkhandarya region, head of the regional tourism department Jurabek Turayev. “All the necessary conditions and a favorable environment have been created to popularize examples of creativity and art that our people have preserved for centuries and for the world’s peoples to become acquainted with them. Thus, we plan to hold an international festival on May 1-7 in the heart of the mountains to make it more attractive, share the festive mood with residents and foreign guests, and increase the oasis’s tourism potential. We will try to familiarize everyone with the rich program of folklore and ethnographic groups, national sports games, and other various performances, as well as widely publicize the performances of domestic and foreign performers who will take part in the festival review-competition, and in general, hold such a grandiose event at a high artistic level”.
On the festival’s first day, an international scientific and practical conference will be held in Termez. The folk art festival program will also include an exhibition of national dishes and handicrafts, concert programs of regional folk groups, and a drone show. Special attention will be paid to performances by Tashkent folklorists.
It is planned to hold a cycling marathon along the roads of the Khojamaykhana shrine in the mountainous area and organize trips to tourist sites such as the healing spring of Omonkhona, the shrines of Khoja Sultan Vali, Kamari Aziz, Khojakuchkar-ata, recreation areas Zovboshi, Qizil Canyon, and archaeological and historical monuments of the region. Kites will also be flown, and competitions in tug-of-war, kurash, ulak-kupkari, and others will be organized.
At the moment, well-known folk ensembles from the United Kingdom, Belgium, Israel, Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Romania, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and India have expressed their desire to participate in the international competition. Applications continue to arrive.
