WNAM MONITORING: During a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov heard a report from Deputy Prime Minister M. Mammedova, who reported on the progress of the implementation of the “State Program for 2022–2028 for the careful preservation, protection, study of national historical and cultural heritage sites and attracting tourists”.
Under the scientific leadership of the National Administration for the Protection, Study and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments, archaeological, research and restoration work is being successfully carried out at sites in all velayats of the country.
Thus, excavations at the Paryzdepe monument in the Geokdepe etrap revealed a unique kariz – an ancient water supply system, confirming the use of this method of hydraulic engineering in the Ahal velayat since ancient times. To publish scientific data collected in recent years, pass them on as a heritage to future generations and familiarize domestic and foreign specialists, specialized works “Antiquities of Turkmenistan”, “Architectural Heritage of Kunyaurgench”, “Historical and Cultural Monuments of Ancient Merv”, “Parthian Fortresses of Nisa”, “Traces of centuries”. It is also planned to publish the “State Register of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Turkmenistan.”
As part of agreements with well-known scientific centers, joint archaeological expeditions will continue. In particular, at the Gonur monument the depe is Turkmen-Russian, at the Togolok 1 monument and in the Old Nisa fortress – Turkmen-Italian, at the Dandanakan fortress – Turkmen-American.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that one of the important tasks of national importance is the widespread study, protection, revival and popularization of the country’s rich cultural heritage. In this context, instructions were given to systematically carry out archaeological research and restoration work on historical and cultural monuments located in the regions.
