Jakarta: The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry is carrying out the 2024 Women Innovation program to prepare women vocational human resources who are skilled in developing digital technology.
“This program aims to increase women’s participation in technology so that they can compete globally,” director general of vocational education at the ministry, Kiki Yuliati, said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
The Women Innovation program is being held in collaboration with the Daya Kreasi Anak Bangsa (Markoding) Foundation. Registrations for the program opened on March 27, 2024, and will close on May 17.
Yuliati informed that classes on basic coding and UI/UX design will be offered under the program from May 21 to May 31, and they will be followed by a digital boot camp from July to November.
Under the program, she explained, women in vocational education will be given greater opportunities to take part in relevant digital skills training.
Through the program, vocational students can develop both basic and advanced digital skills so that they can actively engage in the technology industry later.
According to Yuliati, the Women Innovation program can increase women vocational students’ involvement, especially in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
“We feel that the materials in the program classes are in accordance with the needs of vocational students to face the challenges of technological development and future job trends,” she said.
She explained that given the rapid development of technology, the government needs to prepare human resources who have mastery over technology to face the acceleration of technological developments and meet the job market created by Industrial Revolution 4.0.
“That is why we are very enthusiastic about this cooperation. The collaboration with Markoding through the 2024 Women Innovation program is very strategic to prepare vocational graduates with high skills in technology,” Yuliati said.
