Austerity – word unknown to our rulers

Time was when president, governors and other Vvips of this country used to travel in rail from one city to other for which a special compartment known as saloon in the railway parlance was added to the train. Bogeys in which telephone and other office facilities were also made available. That system not only saved a lot of expenditure which is incurred on the official tours of the Vvips in their special designated official cars but also kept the railway staff on its toes thus improving their working which indirectly also benefitted the common person travelling in trains. What a pity that since long now even the railway minister is shy of travelling in train what to speak of other Vvips mentioned above. Needless to say the former British queen Elizabeth used to travel inside England in British railways more often than not.
