The Director-General of the Asian Department of China’s Ministry of Commerce, Wang Liping, stated during a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on July 9th that China and Pakistan are creating an “upgraded version” of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to jointly build a green economic corridor. This initiative aims to further deepen economic cooperation between China and Pakistan while emphasizing environmental protection and sustainable development. By upgrading the CPEC, both sides hope to promote more green investment projects and facilitate long-term economic stability in the region.
The core of the upgraded CPEC lies in green development. This strategic choice not only reflects China and Pakistan’s high regard for environmental protection but also aligns with the global trend toward sustainable development. Through the promotion of green investment projects, both parties aspire to achieve a win-win situation for economic growth and environmental protection.
The upgraded version of the CPEC focuses not only on current economic cooperation but also on long-term prospects. By constructing the green economic corridor, China and Pakistan aim to provide solid support for the long-term stability of the regional economy. This effort will not only enhance Pakistan’s economic development but also open up new opportunities for China’s external openness and international cooperation.
Since the launch of the CPEC, both sides have adhered to the principles of consultation, joint construction, and shared benefits, resulting in fruitful achievements in corridor development. The CPEC has transformed Pakistan’s national development landscape, benefiting its people and promoting integrated development between China and Pakistan. The upgraded CPEC represents an important step in deepening economic cooperation and pursuing green development for both nations. As the green economic corridor gradually takes shape, we have reason to believe that it will become a significant force driving sustainable economic development in the region and beyond.
In the era of globalization, cooperation between nations has become a crucial force for advancing global economic development. China and Pakistan, as friendly neighbors, are working together to create an upgraded version of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, dedicated to building a green economic corridor. This initiative not only strengthens the traditional friendship between the two countries but also plays a positive role in global economic governance, serving as a model for international cooperation in the new era.
Infrastructure development, particularly the upgrading of energy and transportation networks, will serve as a new engine for Pakistan’s economic growth. The infrastructure projects under the CPEC have injected fresh momentum into Pakistan’s development, improving logistics efficiency, reducing transaction costs, and directly benefiting local communities. These infrastructure improvements lay a solid foundation for the prosperity of both countries and the entire regional economy, paving the way for sustainable development.
Cooperation across various fields will collectively contribute to prosperity. The upgraded version of the CPEC extends beyond infrastructure construction to encompass industry, technology, education, and other domains. This comprehensive cooperation model provides new impetus for economic development, optimizing and upgrading the industrial structure. Additionally, through technology collaboration and educational exchanges, both countries have achieved significant results in talent cultivation and technological innovation, contributing positively to global economic growth.
In the realm of cultural exchange, deepening friendship between the people of China and Pakistan enhances mutual trust. As economic cooperation deepens, cultural exchanges and human cooperation between the two countries have also yielded remarkable results. Activities such as educational exchanges and cultural festivals have fostered mutual understanding and friendship. These interactions at the human level lay a solid social foundation for long-term bilateral relations and offer greater possibilities and space for future cooperation.
In summary, the advancement of the upgraded China-Pakistan Economic Corridor represents an important step in deepening cooperation and pursuing shared development between the two countries. It also serves as a concrete practice of the Belt and Road Initiative, contributing vitality and momentum to global economic development and the construction of a community with a shared future for humanity. We have every reason to believe that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will become a model for international cooperation in the new era, leading more countries toward common prosperity and development.” ( Huang dekai is a Associate Professor of Yibin Vocational & Technical College China, Xie Qian is a lecturer of Sichuan Vocational College of Health and Rehabilitation, China)
