WNAM REPORT: The University of Gujrat (UOG) has recently been included in the prestigious The Belt and Road CPEC Consortium of Universities, marking a significant milestone in its academic and research endeavors. This inclusion comes on the heels of remarkable achievements by the university’s Physics Department, spearheaded by Dr. Ghulam Nabi, a tenured Associate Professor renowned for his prolific research collaborations with Chinese co-authors.
Dr. Ghulam Nabi holds the distinction of having the highest number of research publications co-authored with Chinese researchers, a testament to his commitment to fostering international scientific partnerships. This collaborative spirit has propelled the Science Faculty of UOG to submit the maximum number of projects for the 2024 call of the CAS-ANSO fellowship/projects under The Belt and Road initiative. Notably, Dr. Ghulam Nabi has won a substantial grant of 2.15 million RMB (8.2 million PKR) for the Physics Department, which boasts a remarkable 50% success rate for these submissions. This achievement brings significant recognition and prestige to the University of Gujrat.
The success of these initiatives is attributed to the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mushahid Anwar, dedicated efforts of Prof. Dr. Audil Rashid, Director ORIC and focal person for the CPEC consortium, Dr. Ghulam Nabi – the project winner, Dr. Abdul Majid, Chairperson of the Physics Department, and Registrar office of the university who all have been instrumental in steering these CPEC initiatives to fruition.
In a further direction to the strengthening ties between UOG and Chinese academic institutions, Dr. Ghulam Nabi, the principal investigator of the awarded CAS-ANSO fellowship project, is set to embark on a journey to China. His mission is to foster deeper cooperation between the two countries and to execute the research work under the prestigious fellowship program. This initiative will not only enhance the research capabilities of UOG but also contributes to the broader goals of The Belt and Road CPEC Consortium in promoting international scientific collaboration.
The University of Gujrat’s inclusion in the Belt and Road CPEC Consortium of Universities and its success in securing competitive research grants highlight its growing prominence in the global academic landscape. These achievements are a source of immense pride for the university and a harbinger of further collaborative successes in the future.
