Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING): A total of 617,622 houses have been built under the One Million Houses Program (PSR) as of July, or 59.23 percent of this year’s target, according to the Public Works and Housing Ministry.
The ministry’s Director General of Housing, Iwan Suprijanto, noted in a statement cited here on Saturday (August 17) that PSR, as a national strategic program, is the government’s collaboration with property developers to address housing backlog by providing adequate housing for people.
Under the program that was initiated by President Joko Widodo on April 29, 2015, in Central Java, Indonesia has developed 9,206,379 new houses during the 2015-2023 period.
Suprijanto underlined that the program has been performing better this year, as evidenced by an increase in the number of houses built on a year-on-year basis, from 585,604 units in January-July 2023 to 617,622 in January-July 2024.
“We are optimistic that the number of houses built under PSR will exceed one million by the end of the year, as construction works have continued to run to meet people’s steadily growing need for quality housing,” he stated.
According to data from the ministry’s Directorate of Public and Commercial Housing, the 617.622 housing units were built this year. A total of 484,119 houses were dedicated to low-income communities (MBR).
In detail, as many as 121,738 MBR houses were built by the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, 8,345 by other ministries and institutions, 72,582 by the Finance Ministry’s PT SMF, and 11,898 by regional governments.
Moreover, the contribution of non-FLPP (Housing Financing Liquidity Facilities) developers amounted to 266,086 units; corporate social responsibility (CSR) housing, 66 units; and 29,662 units from the community.
As for non-MBR houses, 129,745 were constructed by developers and 3,758 by the community.
