Both the visiting Muslim scholar from India, Dr Zakir Naiq and the JUI Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman have made same suggestions about Palestine tragedy but in different words for stemming the tide of Israeli barbarism on the Palestinians which has shamed Hitler’s acts of barbarism during the second world war.
Zakir Naiq wants setting up of an organization by the Muslim countries on the pattern of NATO so that if any foreign country attacks any member country of that Organization it should be considered as an attack on all the countries grouped in that Organization while Maulana Fazlur Rehman wants that Saudi Arabia should take initiative in the matter along with Turkey and start effort to put meat on that idea .
Granted that on the face of it this idea isn’t bad but it is easier said than done. The six million dollar question is who will bell the cat and in the process incur animosity of Uncle Sam.
At the moment no leader having the courage and charisma of ZA Bhutto, Jamal Abdul Nasir, Imam Khomeni, Soekarno or for that matter Castro is around who could look into the eyes of Uncle Sam and take initiative in the matter.
Isn’t it a fact that leaders like Bhutto, Jamal Nasir, Shah Faisal, Qazafi and Castro were thrown out of their office because they grated on Uncle Sam as they refused to toe the line of Washington.
