Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING ): State-owned port company PT Pelindo has announced a marina tourism center development project at the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH), Benoa Port of Bali, that supports Indonesia’s vision to be a major player in the global maritime industry.

“The new marina in Bali realizes our vision to become a key player in the global maritime industry, combining the experience of comfort and quality service along with safe and world-class infrastructure,” Pelindo President Director Arif Suhartono said in a statement issued on Saturday.

The marina facility is designed to have 180 docks and could accommodate more than 50 super yachts measuring up to 90 meters in length, Suhartono informed.

According to him, the marina is targeted to become operational in the second half of 2025 and is expected to have a multiplier effect on the development of butterfly route cruise routes that include major ports such as Tanjung Emas, Tanjung Perak, Gilimas, Labuan Bajo, and Raja Ampat.

To introduce BMTH, Pelindo held the “Sail to Indonesia Goes to BMTH” event from October 2–4, 2024, which was attended by more than 50 yachters from dozens of countries participating in the Sail to Indonesia Rally.

President Director of Pelindo sub-holding SPSL, Joko Noerhudha, expressed the hope that the event would bring continuity and make BMTH a hub for Indonesian maritime tourism.

“The development of BMTH is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a major destination for maritime tourism, in line with the success of the event which attracted the attention of yachters and the public,” he said.

He added that the event was also an opportunity to introduce the abundant culture and potential of the country’s maritime tourism.

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, in his remarks at the welcoming ceremony, lauded the event and voiced support for Pelindo’s efforts to strengthen national maritime and logistics connectivity.

In line with Minister Sumadi, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno also expressed his support for the event.

“Bali will have an important opportunity to promote maritime tourism destinations in Indonesia, and encourage foreign and domestic tourists visits,” he said.
