Frontier corps(militia ) and Frontier constabulary (border) both are border forces. The former is deployed inside FATA and Afghan border touching it while the latter keeps a watch on all movements between FATA and the revenue districts of KPK. It has been noted that more often than not, whenever any civil administration in the country needs to augment its police force for facing any possible law and order situation it requisitions them through the interior ministry and several platoons of these border forces are sent for the purpose.
The draw back in this system is that the working of these two tribal forces is adversely affected in the places of their duties inside the tribal belt . The question is that if any district administration feels shortage in its police force, why don’t it recruit the required strength.
Isn’t it against the mandate of these two forces that they are used in the settled areas, whereas, they have been raised for looking after the law and order of the tribal belt? It is in the evidence that the Governors of KPK had been asking the federal governments not to tax Frontier Corps and Frontier constabulary with this additional duties but to no avail as it is of paramount importance that full strength of Frotier corps and constabulary is always available to the FATA’s administration.
