BAKU ( WNAM MONITORING0: Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Tuesday with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
During the meeting, the sides explored the prospects for further development of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries, as well as the regional cooperation.
The two hailed the high-level reciprocal visits between the leaders of the two countries, as well as the foreign ministers, the mechanisms of the political consultations, and the regional cooperation platforms that have contributed to raising the friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan to a higher level.
They stressed the importance of further enhancing cooperation in political, economic, trade, high technologies, defense, security and other domains.
The parties emphasized the significance of mutual support within the multilateral formats, including a number of regional and international organizations such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. They also underlined the importance of Pakistan’s election as a member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-2026 term.
The sides underscored that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) would provide additional opportunities for the meetings between the two country’s leaders, describing this event as a special opportunity for cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting also featured discussions on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
