WNAM REPORT: The next meeting of the Executive Board of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) has been held. Members of the TDBB Executive Board from Azerbaijan, Turkiye, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gagauzia, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and Mongolia participated in the event, as per reports.
Azerbaijan was represented at the event, hosted by Turkiye’s Bağcılar Municipality, by Temraz Taghiyev, Chairman of the National Association of Azerbaijani City Municipalities and Chairman of Narimanov Municipality, and Rovshan Mammadov, an official from the National Association of Azerbaijani City Municipalities.
In the event, TDBB President and Mayor of Konya, Uğur Ibrahim Altay, and TDBB Secretary General, Fahri Çolak, spoke about the organization’s nine-month activities and highlighted the Union’s significant role in establishing mutual relations between local authorities in Turkic-speaking countries. Speeches addressed TDBB’s projects this year, emphasizing the necessity of further developing mutual cooperation.
Temraz Taghiyev, Chairman of the National Association of Azerbaijani City Municipalities, expressed his pleasure in attending the event held the day before in honor of Turkiye’s Republic Day, noting that the friendship between Turkiye and Azerbaijan would endure for centuries, rooted in historical ties and founded on the principles of brotherhood.
Taghiyev stated that the Board meeting underscored that holding the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Azerbaijan reflects great trust in the country.
He also noted that, by hosting such a prestigious event, Azerbaijan, as a party to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, is contributing to the global fight against climate change.
Many Board members expressed their satisfaction with being invited to this prominent event.
During the meeting, the activities of the Executive Board over the past nine months were reviewed, and projects planned for the coming months were discussed.
It should be noted that TDBB plays a special role in the development of local authorities in Turkic-speaking countries and in helping them reach a certain level of progress.
