Frontier Corps had been raised to look after law and order inside the FATA as well as keep a vigilant
eye on Pak Afghan border. The mandate of Frontier Constabulary is to keep an eye on the border of FATA with the revenue districts of KPK.
It has become customary with the provincial governments that more often than not they requisition platoons of these two forces for assisting the district administration in the maintenance of law and order which is not desirable because if on one hand it is against the mandate of both of these forces on the other it affects very sensitive duty being performed by them in the tribal belt.
It is not understandable as to why the provincial authorities don’t exercise due care in selection of lower echelons of police and impart them required training so that they could maintain law and order in their bailiwicks under their own steam instead of using the crutches of Frontier Corps and Constabulary. If police is short of men can’t its strength be increased?
