WNAM MONITORING: The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the Customs Administration of Iran, and the International Road Transport Union (IRU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the ITTC 2024 international exhibition and conference.
This document aims to improve the security and efficiency of transportation under the International Road Transport system (IRT), as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
The memorandum outlines enhanced cooperation to ensure seamless transit of goods through key corridors connecting Turkmenistan and Iran. Its objectives include improving oversight of transport operations, increasing transparency, reducing administrative barriers, and strengthening security at all stages of transport.
The IRT system allows for faster customs clearance, minimizes risks for participants in the logistics chain, and modernizes transport infrastructure. This initiative not only promotes transport cooperation between the two countries but also integrates the region into the international freight transport system.
Signing the memorandum marks an important milestone for improving conditions in international trade, expanding transit potential, and strengthening economic ties in Central Asia and beyond.
