Jakarta (WNAM MONITORING): The Ministry of Industry is expanding the domestic halal industry’s exports to strengthen Indonesia’s economic structure by participating in the world’s largest halal industry exhibition, the 2024 Halal Expo Turkey.

In a statement from his office on Thursday, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that his side facilitated 12 leading domestic industry players, comprising PT Bintan Inti Industrial Estate, PT Binabusana Internusa, PT Cinquer Agro Nusantara, and PT Formosa Ingredient Factory, Tbk.

The supported enterprises also include PT Jayatama Selaras, PT Kapal Api, PT Lestari Jaya Bangsa, PT Priskila Prima Makmur, CV Realsa Natural, PT RM Deltasari Indah, PT Surabaya Indah Permai, and PT Venamon.

He remarked that this event affirmed Indonesia’s position as one of the main players in the global sharia economy by promoting the leading halal industry sector.

“Our leading halal sectors, including the halal food and beverage sector and modest fashion, recorded growth of 5.87 percent (yoy) and 3.81 percent (yoy) respectively. In the future, the sharia economy can dominate national economic growth through the halal industry’s development,” he stated.

He noted that the products brought at the exhibition reflect the diversity of Indonesia’s leading halal products, ranging from food and beverages to cosmetics.

In the previous year, Kartasasmita said Indonesia recorded a trade transaction commitment of Rp10.4 billion (US$608 thousand) at the exhibition. This success is a strategic momentum to continue more targeted promotional steps.

The event was opened by Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Eko Cahyanto, and Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey, Achmad Rizal Purnama, on November 27.

Moreover, the Indonesian Pavilion at the event also held a business forum presenting 10 speakers from various sectors, such as food and beverages, traditional medicine, footwear, clothing, and packaging, as well as investment facilitators.

With this participation, Indonesia is also expanding opportunities for strategic collaboration to support the growth of the sharia economy in the future, the minister remarked.
