WNAM REPORT: The Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov met with the Director-General at the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), Dr. Tarifa AlZaabi.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the initiative put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the UN Climate Change Conference on the creation of a Regional Genetic Resources Bank with the participation of leading multilateral structures.
The ICBA representative expressed his readiness to support the initiative and actively participate in its implementation.
According to the Minister, this structure can become an important platform for Central Asia for industrial cooperation and scientific and technical exchange.
At the meeting, a project on sustainable agricultural production systems development in degraded areas of Karakalpakstan was discussed.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and ICBA, particularly by organizing joint scientific projects in the Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy and holding regular consultations to achieve mutually beneficial results.
