WNAM MONITORING: The Charge d’Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan, Seyyed Jafar Aghaei Maryan, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side strongly protested against the derogatory remarks made about Azerbaijan and its head of state during an event in Ardabil on December 29, 2024. The event was attended by Seyyed Hassan Ameli, the representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran in Ardabil Province and Imam of Ardabil Friday prayer, and the remarks were broadcast on the Iranian Radio and Television Organization’s News Network channel.
Additionally, the Azerbaijani side expressed dissatisfaction with the recent increase in anti-Azerbaijani sentiment among the Iranian population. It was highlighted that such anti-Azerbaijani propaganda does not align with the spirit of bilateral relations and the objectives set for the two countries. These actions were deemed to foster hatred and hostility instead of promoting and deepening interstate and people-to-people relations.
The Azerbaijani side demanded an end to such provocations against Azerbaijan.
