Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING): The Ministry of Creative Economy is supporting the program for coaching micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as part of the government’s efforts to make Indonesia a global hub for modest fashion .
“Since last year, we have supported the creative process. The coaching that we are currently doing is our functional task to support the creative economy ecosystem, including modest fashion,” the ministry’s deputy for creativity, culture, and design, Yuke Sri Rahayu, said here on Friday.
“So God willing, hopefully, we can support modest fashion MSMEs so they can continue to carry out the creation, production, distribution, and marketing processes, even for consultations. This is the program that we will carry out in the next five years,” she added.
Rahayu said that the spirit of innovation is one of the important factors for MSMEs, especially the younger generation, to compete in the international market.
“The innovative spirit will change the mindset of MSMEs to have the mindset of CEOs of startups,” she explained.
“It must be accompanied by innovation, collaboration, adaptation—well, that is what we want to instill in creative economy actors so they can scale up, be sustainable, provide welfare, job opportunities for others,” she added.
According to Rahayu, as one of the largest Muslim populations in the world, Indonesia can be a center for modest fashion.
Based on government data, Indonesian Muslim fashion consumption is worth around US$20 billion, averaging a growth of 18.2 percent annually.
However, Indonesia has not yet become a global exporter of modest fashion, a sphere that is still dominated by Turkey, China, and India.
“Be careful, do not let us, as the largest (Muslim) country, only be consumers. We must start thinking outward,” she said.
