ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): A significant development took place to promote trade and cultural relations between Pakistan and Spain when a high-level delegation met with Spanish officials.
Ms. Shumaila Siddiqui, Chairperson for Diplomatic Affairs also chaired a meeting at the Islamabad Small Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries, which was also attended by President Owais Satti, Senior Vice President. Tarib Saeed and Vice President. Sardar Zaheer.
A successful meeting was held at the Embassy of Spain with the Ambassador of Spain, Jose A. de Ory and the Economic and Commercial Attaché, Ms. Cristina Low. In this meeting, detailed discussions were held on trade development, economic cooperation and exchange programs. Ambassador Jose warmly welcomed the delegation and said that this is the first time that a Pakistani business community has formally approached Spain for trade and cultural cooperation. He termed the initiative as beneficial for both countries and expressed his desire to further promote the relations.
In this regard, Ms. Christina Low visited the Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries (ICSTSI) on March 21, 2025. The Chamber invited business people from various sectors to explore opportunities for mutual economic cooperation. During this, Ms. Christina Low met various business personalities at the Chamber, where a question and answer session was also held. On this occasion, a special souvenir was presented to the distinguished guest by the Chamber, while Ms. Shumaila Siddiqui also presented a traditional Sindhi Ajrak.
The Pakistani delegation offered to host the Spanish Chamber in Pakistan, which is expected to be implemented soon. The Spanish Ambassador assured of enhancing contacts with Spanish chambers and industries.
God willing, a business delegation will also be sent to Spain very soon. This initiative will prove to be an important milestone towards establishing strong business and cultural ties between Pakistan and Europe.
