WNAM Monitoring: The Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan, Annageldi Saparov and the leadership of the State Power Corporation Turkmenenergo met with the Chief Executive Officer of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), Alhaj Mullah Muhammad Hanif Hamza, who is on a two-day visit to Turkmenistan with a delegation from the company. Following the visit of the Afghan delegation, the sides signed a contract for electricity supply from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan in 2024.
According to the contract, up to 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity will be supplied through four routes: Andkhoy, Aqina, Badghis, and Turgundi-Herat.
According to the announcement, Turkmenenergo confirmed completing the 500 kV transmission line from Sheberghan to Argandab. The recently opened transmission line will enable Afghanistan to increase its electricity purchases from Turkmenistan.
The meeting also discussed the Nur-ul-Jihad substation project in Herat province.
