The gigantic developmental projects being launched by the Chief Minister of Panjab in various fields of life worth billions of rupees aimed at the amelioration of the teeming lot of the have nots are going to stand her in good stead in the next polls.
Taking a cue from Z. A. Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif has been also trying to groom his daughter for the role of Prime Minister of Pakistan in future though a lot will depend how best she serves as CM Punjab in the days to come. Her media team has been bending over backwards to glorify her on umpteen developmental projects now in various stages of implementation. She is being trained in the art of diplomacy also by her inclusion in delegations visiting abroad. Her recent visit to Turkey is a case in point. One remembers the times of Z A Bhutto when he also had associated Benazir with the Foreign office for getting a hang of foreign affairs.
Needless to say the minus point in this affair is that promotion of dynastic politics goes against the grain of parliamentary democracy.
